School Ethos/Philosophy

  1. To maintain a happy, inclusive and caring learning environment in which every learner will feel  secure and valued as a person

  1. To ensure that the physical environment of the school is secure, providing a safe and healthy environment for all users and is accessible to all
  2. To display learners’ work and other material in a stimulating way in order to promote learning and teaching

Curriculum and Organisation

  1. To stimulate the development of every learner’s potential through a pedagogical approach that enhances an education that is holistic, inclusive and relevant for life, developing concepts, knowledge, understanding, skills and attitudes specified in the official syllabuses that meet the demands of the National Curriculum.
  2. To follow and implement official directives with regard to time management, quality of planning, curricula and assessment
  3. To ensure continuity and progression in learning across the Year Groups in all areas of the curriculum
  4. To provide learners with a supportive school environment that encourages a healthy lifestyle throughout their school life and as lifelong learners

Leadership, Management and Administration

  1. To promote the aims and values of the college and the policies of the directorates
  2. To create a fertile ground towards a more efficient and effective school through professional leadership, efficient management and administration and sound evaluative structures for on-going review and renewal

Teaching

  1. To ensure that the teaching staff has up-to-date knowledge of their area and the learning programmes
  2. To ensure that planning for teaching and learning is linked to the syllabus/official guidelines
  3. To motivate learners to learn by setting engaging tasks linked to the learning outcomes of the lessons delivered in all subjects taught at Primary Level
  4. To use a range of teaching strategies appropriate to the subject/development areas taught, in order to involve all learners actively
  5. To meet the needs of individual learners through effective teaching
  6. To implement the thematic approach and provide opportunities for extended learning

Achievement and Learning

  1. To provide for learners with different learning abilities and aptitudes so as to raise and maintain attainment in subjects across the curriculum, ensuring that each learner reaches the highest academic achievement of which he/she is capable

Professional Development

  1. To ensure that the teaching staff is kept abreast of pedagogical developments

  1. To ensure optimal use of a wide range of appropriate and multi-sensory resources, including ICT, so as to enhance learning and teaching across the curriculum
  2. To make effective use of the school finances, distributing resources widely to support learning and teaching

Links with Parents and Agencies Outside School

  1. To provide communication between the school and home
  2. To involve parents in their children’s learning, encouraging them to participate actively in the life of the school
  3. To establish a good relationship with the School Council and to liaise with other schools in the college, the local council, the parish, and other organisations so as to develop a sense of community
