Smiling with Jerome Foundation is an NGO which helps families diagnosed with cancer and families whose kids have serious disabilities or conditions. In December 2019, the foundation has introduced in Malta the Chemo Bags of Hope Initiative. These are bags which are given to all inpatients (young and old) at Sir Anthony Mamo Oncology Centre and to patients referred to by Hospice Malta. All items in these bags are specialized for cancer patients which include a Lap Blanket, Chemo Hat, Water, Stress Ball, Stationery, Tissues, Hand Sanitizer, Folder, Clipboard, Lollipop, Art Therapy Book, Puzzle Book, Alcohol Free Mouthwash, Lip Balm, Colouring Pencils, Notebook and crocheted Angels. Although each Chemo Bag of Hope is costs around 60Euro, they are given for Free to everyone.

World Cancer Day is an international day marked on February 4th to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment. Our Kinder 1 classes took part in the WALK WITH JEROME event whereby all classes did a craft in lilac/purple which is the colour related to cancer awareness and then went on a small walk inside the school grounds to commemorate this event.

They also brought a small donation of 1 Euro in aid of Smiling with Jerome Foundation. The lovely amount of 100 Euro was collected and sent to the foundation. The foundation then sent a certificate to each class as a thank you.
