As a fund-raising activity for the school, this year we are offering the children the opportunity to take a photo with Father Christmas. Photos taken will be in line with the guidelines of the Health Authorities where the student and Father Christmas will be wearing a mask and both will keep the social distancing when taking the photo. The dates will be as follows:

18th December 2020: Kindergarten classes

21st December 2020: Primary classes

On both days, students are encouraged to dress as Santa’s Helpers. The price will be €2 for a 6”x8” photo and money will only be collected on 15th, 16th and 17th December. We appreciate all your help and support in all the activities we organise. We would also like to take the opportunity to wish you all the best for the coming festivities.

Dear Parent/Guardian,

School Council Elections are being held as per Education Act 1988 in all State Schools in Malta
and Gozo.
The School Council is made up of:
 A President – who is nominated by the Minister for Education
 A Secretary/Treasurer – who is the Head of School
 Three representatives elected from among the Educators based at the school
 Three representatives elected from among the Parents/Guardians whose children attend this School.
Elections will be held between Monday 1st February and Saturday 6th February 2021.
This year elections will be conducted online. Each parent/guardian is entitled to a vote and will be receiving a Code made up of three letters and three numbers. Parents/guardians can vote online using a computer, a smartphone or a tablet.

School Council Elections are being held between Monday 1st February and Saturday 6th February 2021.

Nominations – Parents/Guardians

1. Nominations for parents/guardians for these Councils open on Monday 11th January and close on Sunday 17th January 2021 at 1.00 p.m.
2. Nomination forms can be accessed and then submitted online at https://education.gov.mt/en/school-council-elections/pages/elections-login.aspx.
3. Parents/guardians of students attending this school can contest the election and vote for the School Council.
4. Only one member from each family can contest the election for the same school.
5. Parents/guardians can be members of more than one School Council as long as their children attend those schools.
6. In the case of Resource Centres, only parents whose children are registered as fulltime students can participate in the elections, both as candidates as well as voters.
7. Parents/guardians of students in the last year of school may be nominated for the elections. Once their children finish school, it is up to them to decide whether or not to continue as members.
8. Parents/guardians, who are also educators, can be nominated both as Representatives of the Educators as well as Representatives of the Parents on the same Council. However, if they are elected for both posts they will have to choose one post. Educators whose children attend a different school from where they teach can be Representatives of Educators in the school where they are assigned and Representatives of Parents in their children’s school.
   Voting
9. Each parent/guardian is entitled to vote.
10. Each parent/guardian will receive a Code which is needed for online voting.
11. The School Council Elections’ system are held using the system known as ‘first past the post’. Voters are to select three parents/guardians from those nominated when voting.

Your Participation Matters
School Council Elections in all State Schools will be held in January/February 2021. The
results of these elections will determine the composition of the School Council for the
period between January 2021 and December 2022.
School Councils in Primary, Middle and Secondary Schools are made up of a President,
the Head of School who is the secretary/treasurer, three parents and three educators. Both
parents and educators are elected, the former by parents/guardians of students and the
latter by the school’s educators.
The role of these Councils is not limited to fund raising and similar activities.
School Councils have to:
• administer the School Council funds
• discuss ways and means to increase parental involvement
• discuss the curriculum and the educational services offered by the school
• make suggestions to the Directorates of Education
• discuss the school amenities and environment and propose ways to improve them
• discuss any problems related to the students’ well-being.
Parents are encouraged to use their right to contest and to vote in the forthcoming School
Council Elections.

In preparation for the Christmas season, we would like to inform you that the school would be having Poinsettias for sale. As in previous years, the large ones will be sold for the price of €5 each and the small ones will be sold for the price of €3.50 each. If you would like to order, please send the exact amount of money to school with your son/daughter only on the following days: Monday 7^th December, Wednesday 9^th December or Thursday 10^th December. Please note that due to the current situation we will not be sending a printed note with this information. The Poinsettias will be delivered on the week starting 14^th December.

Investing in our future means investing in our children — which is why the United Nations has designated every November 20 as Universal Children’s Day. It’s a time to promote togetherness around the world, awareness of the problems children face in every corner of the globe, and improve the welfare for all children. On this day the School Council suggested that the students come to school wearing jeans and shirt against a donation of 1 Euro. Money was collected in a container at the school entrance before students did the hand sanitizer. This was a fundraising activity and the amount collected of €256 will be used for school improvements. The short video was done in occasion of International Children’s Day. The video was recorded by Ms M. Vella Montebello. The students of class P2.5 whose teacher is Ms A Sapiano read the poem written by Ms A Vella.

F’din il-ġurnata il-Kunsill Skolastiku ssuġġerixxa li l-istudenti jiġu l-iskola libsin jeans u flokk u jagħtu donazzjoni ta’ Euro. Il-flus inġabru ġo kontenitur waqt li t-tfal ikunu deħlin l-iskola, u wara ddiżinfettaw idejhom bhas-soltu. L-ammont ta €256 li nġabru ser jintużaw għal spejjeż li qed isiru l-iskola. Dan il-vidjo qasir sar għall-okkażjoni tal-Jum Internazzjonali tat-Tfal. Il-vidjo inġibed minn Ms M. Vella Montebello. Ħadu sehem it-tfal tal-klassi P2.5 ta’ Ms A. Sapiano u l-poeżija kitbith ta’ Ms A Vella.

Summer has been over for quite some time now. The leaves have changed, the temperature has dropped, and now we warily prepare for a season of coughs, chills and bony, barren trees. Even though winter draws nearer with each passing moment, we still look forward to it.

On Friday 30th October our school is celebrating Autumn Day. For this event students are asked to wear jeans, shirt/t-shirt and running shoes.

The school has just been awarded the Gold Award from the National Literacy Agency, for participating in the Book Champion School Awards. Special thanks to all the staff and students. Well done to all!
